Was There. Dave Grohl is Awesome. Doing it next year.
Daylight Saving Time forced the clocks one hour ahead two days ago, and it has had two pleasant side effects. The first was that I got paid for one hour of free labor and the second is that it made parking lots everywhere pleasantly dark from about 7-8PM in Fairfax, Virginia.
I visited the grocery store around 7:30 PM, got out of my car to walk in, and still didn’t pick up on it for about 15 seconds. Once I looked around it was dark. Starkly bereft of luminescence. “What am I stepping on?” dark. I surmise that Harris Teeter hasn’t reprogrammed their lot lighting, and thus it stays off just a little too long for DST at this latitude and part of the country. And this slight oversight has created a haven for City People everywhere by providing them with that ancient sense of “holy jesus its dark and we are still toiling away on something.”
The familiar odor of moisture in the air and a pleasingly early darkening of the skies brought me back 20 years. I felt like I was 12 years old again, in my own backyard, and right before my parents told me to come in and brush my teeth. I swear that the air just smelled younger and that my tee shirt was more then enough clothing for the temperature. I recognized the smell of wet asphalt from my own driveway, and the quiet of an entire portion of society calling it a night.
Another memory from my childhood has died.
…..
Recruiter: Have you ever been convicted of a felony or a misdemeanor? That’s robbery, rape, car theft, that sort of thing.
John Winger: Convicted? No.
Russell Ziskey: Never convicted.

Also. Press Play below and behold a younger Sheryl Crow. Always liked her.
Look at this wonderful gentleman. Gaze upon his youth.
I never saw him that way.
He was very near to death via Esophageal Cancer when I took an interest. Separated from his disease, he was the harshest critic of know-nothing, conservative, CNN, point-counterpoint guy there was.
He made apologies when new information became available, and ground imbecilic points into the dust. It’ll probably be a century or so before we see that again.
I was waiting for a Windows 8 install. It failed.
I love Jill, I hate the Meade.
Also, the higher res version.
